A Visionary Collaboration
Meraki Wellness, a new standalone 16,000 sq ft wellness destination, is set to debut in Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands, in Q2. This innovative spa has been created in collaboration with Rafael Amachastegui of RAD Architects Inc, with consultancy by Design for Leisure. Together, they aim to redefine the wellness landscape, particularly with their unique hydrotherapy offerings.
The "Hydrotherapy Odyssey" is a thermal bathing circuit featuring seven distinct experiences. At the heart of this facility lies a stunning 2,500 sq ft mineral pool, designed to provide guests with a rejuvenating experience.
The Founders' Passion for Wellness
Co-founders Peter and Shula Clarke are a husband and wife duo with a shared vision. They emphasize the importance of creating a space that nurtures both mind and body. Peter stated, “Meraki Wellness is poised to elevate the wellness landscape in the Cayman Islands and beyond. We strive to be imaginative and innovative, seeing things differently in order to refine and inspire.”
Shula added, “This is an exciting next chapter of mindful wellbeing, and there is no better location for our first Meraki Wellness than an island known for its Cayman Kindness.” Their commitment to wellness is evident in every aspect of the spa.
Exclusive Accommodations
The location features four private guest suites, available only by invitation. This exclusivity enhances the overall experience, allowing guests to immerse themselves fully in the serene environment.
Guests of Meraki Wellness also have access to all the facilities at the neighboring luxury beachfront residential development called The Watermark. This includes a private beach, swimming pools, an indoor theatre, restaurants, and the owners’ lounge, ensuring a comprehensive luxury experience.
Thoughtful Design and Technology
The spa's design focuses on creating a fluid, uninterrupted guest journey. Shula Clarke explained, “Movement through the space is intuitive and calming, with each transition thoughtfully considered to support emotional ease and physical restoration. The architecture prioritizes flow, privacy, and a sense of quiet luxury.”
To enhance the atmosphere, technology by Spanish company Zonair3D filters the air throughout the property, removing pollutants, allergens, and bacteria. This system creates an environment with 99.995 percent pure air, ensuring guests breathe easy while they unwind.
Wellness Facilities
Meraki Wellness boasts eight treatment suites, including one single luxury signature suite and two twin luxury signature suites. Each suite features private bathing rituals, luxury steam showers, and dedicated relaxation areas for immersive experiences.
The treatment rooms are equipped by Gharieni Group, featuring MO1 Evo series spa treatment beds and matching furniture. Bespoke spa uniforms have been supplied by Fashionizer Spa, adding to the luxurious feel of the spa.
The spa will also offer a longevity and wellness screening to guests, which comprises a non-invasive assessment. Peter Clarke mentioned that this evaluation uses advanced biometric technology to provide gentle guidance for improved wellbeing.
Relaxation Areas
Meraki Wellness includes several relaxation areas. The pre-treatment Wellness Lounge and the post-ritual Quiet Lounge provide tranquil spaces for guests to unwind. Additionally, a Garden Lounge offers light refreshments from the wellness center’s flexitarian spa menu. For those seeking privacy, a separate Members’ Lounge is available, along with an Event Lounge that can be booked for bespoke events.
The Mineral Pool: A Centerpiece of Relaxation
The 2,500 sq ft mineral pool, enriched with Himalayan salt, serves as the centerpiece of the spa. It features 33,986 handmade tiles in a design by Ceramica Suro. The pool is equipped with hydro-jets and champagne benches, which Shula Clarke says support circulation and recovery. Music and lighting have been curated to create a restorative and meditative atmosphere.

Hydrotherapy Odyssey
Design for Leisure's US$4 million (€3.7 million, £3.2 million) contract involved the design, installation, and finishes for wet facilities throughout the property. The Hydrotherapy Odyssey features seven hydrotherapy experiences:
A panoramic sauna by KLAFS, touted as the largest in the Caribbean.
Aquamoon showers, sensory experience showers that combine rainfall-style cleansing with a soft lighting display by Dornbracht.
A mosaic-lined aromatic caldarium for gentle heat.
A frigidarium for a crisp cooling experience.
A tepidarium for warm relaxation.
Experience showers by Aquaform designed to mimic gentle rainfall or invigorating stormy precipitation.
A snow room by TechnoAlpin Indoor, claimed to be the first in the Caribbean.
The aromatic caldarium experiences were created in collaboration with Lux Elements. Peter Clarke noted that the bathing circuit is “designed to balance heat and cold, stillness and movement.”
Design for Leisure also created the spa's hammam for authentic cleansing and massage rituals, decorated with 1,000 sheets of 22-carat gold leaf applied to the ceiling by hand.
Additional Facilities
Meraki Wellness features a Blowdry Lounge for hair appointments and a Butterfly Room for hand and foot rituals. The property has an exclusive partnership with PersoNAILity UK, a brand by celebrated manicurist Jenni Draper.
Guests are encouraged to make a wish and set an intention for their wellness journey while in the Meraki Wellness Boutique Emporium, under a light installation of translucent glass spheres called The Wish. The retail boutique will sell exclusive jewelry and apparel by brands such as Ibeliv, Kuu, Frescobol Carioca, and Edeniste.
The spa also includes a Plant and Tonic Wellness Café, offering a variety of healthy options.
Fitness and Memberships
For fitness enthusiasts, Meraki Wellness provides a Fitness Lounge, movement studio, and a private training studio, all equipped with Technogym equipment.
Meraki Wellness will offer four tiers of membership programs: Founder, Emerald, Jade, and bespoke Corporate. Prices start from US$5,000 to US$7,000 (€4,500–€6,300, £3,900–£5,500).
This comprehensive approach to wellness ensures that every guest can find their perfect path to relaxation and rejuvenation.
