Kohler, Wis., November 1, 2024 – As Kohler Co. prepares to launch recently acquired KLAFS – a market-leading manufacturer of saunas, steam rooms, and other hydrothermal wellness products – in the U.S. market, Design for Leisure (DFL) will serve as the authorized dealer and exclusive sales and installation partner for KLAFS products for custom commercial hospitality projects in the USA and the Caribbean. DFL has also been designated a preferred Kohler partner for custom residential projects in these regions. DFL is a hydrothermal specialist behind hundreds of award-winning luxury spa builds in the USA and internationally.
“DFL has a strong record within the wellness industry, and we look forward to aligning our joint goals for the U.S. launch of KLAFS products,” says Bonnie Choruby, President of Luxury and Wellness Brands for Kohler Co. “This is an area of growth for Kohler as this market embraces experiences and solutions that drive toward healthier, more sustainable lifestyles.”
“Kohler’s acquisition of KLAFS marks a significant milestone in the hydrothermal industry, reflecting the rapid growth this sector is undergoing in the USA,” said Don Genders, founder and CEO of DFL. “We are thrilled to continue our 21-year legacy of delivering successful projects in the USA and are eager to support Kohler's exciting upcoming initiatives with renewed enthusiasm and dedication.”
Headquartered in Schwäbisch Hall, Germany, KLAFS develops, designs, manufactures, and sells innovative premium wellness products designed to enhance personal spa experiences including saunas, sanariums, infrared cabins, steam baths, pools, and related wellness equipment and accessories. In addition, the company provides design consultation, planning services, and expert installation. KLAFS sells its products through a vast direct-to-consumer showroom network that primarily spans across Europe to both residential and commercial (incl. hotels, fitness centers, day spas, etc.) clients. In January 2024, KLAFS joined Kohler’s Luxury & Wellness Brands group with other high-design brands including ANN SACKS, KALLISTA, Robern, and Kast Concrete Basins.
DFL entered the USA market in 2003 with notable projects including the Canyon Ranch SpaClub in Las Vegas and Canyon Ranch Living in Miami (currently operating as the Carillon Miami Wellness Resort). This initial success paved the way for projects at renowned locations such as Caesars Palace Qua Baths & Spa in Las Vegas and the Beverly Wilshire in Beverly Hills, CA. These esteemed properties, showcasing DFL's enduring commitment to quality and sustainability, continue to operate with the same design and layout almost two decades later.
Other notable DFL projects include the first-ever purpose-built Event Sauna in the USA at Resorts World AWANA Spa & Wellness in Las Vegas, NV, Fairmont Spa Century Plaza in Los Angeles, CA, The Spa at Four Seasons Hotel & Residences (Fort Lauderdale, FL) and Faena Hotel in Miami Beach, FL.
