Case Study
TCU Athletics Human Performance Center, Fort Worth, Texas
When Texas Christian University (TCU) set out to create a cutting-edge Human Performance Center for its 515 student-athletes, a key goal was harnessing the proven recovery power of hot/cold contrast therapy. The solution: pairing the deep heat of a traditional Finnish sauna with the rejuvenating cold of a real snow experience.

The $50 million project, completed just in time for the Horned Frogs’ 2025 football season, features the 10,000-square-foot Simpson Family Restoration and Wellness Center to support recovery. For this critical element, TCU turned to Design for Leisure, who designed and installed a custom Finnish sauna accommodating up to 16 athletes alongside a TechnoAlpin Snow Room for 6–12 athletes—bringing world-class thermal wellness to collegiate sports.

This is yet another project that highlights how advanced collegiate sports have become in embracing world-class wellness and recovery strategies—putting TCU at the forefront of athlete performance and recruitment. It also builds on Design for Leisure’s work with other leading programs, including the University of Texas Longhorns Football team, where we installed a custom sauna to support post-training recovery.
